Language resources

What languages is the EIB web site available in?
The EIB aims to provide you with the information you are looking for in your own language or in a language you can understand, depending on the nature of the information. Official documents are available in at least the languages which were official at the date of publication. Other documents, of a non legally binding nature, are frequently published in English, French and German. General information on the homepage, the sections immediately accessible from the homepage and the indexes are, as far as possible, available in English, French and German. Specialised information is generally available in at least two languages, the ones most commonly used by the audience the information is intended for.

How do languages work on the EIB web site?

The EIB web site exploits a cookie, a small file kept by your internet browser, to indicate the preferred language. The preferred navigation language can be either English, French or German. Where such a cookie does not exist, the preferred language of the internet browser is detected. For those internet browsers without English, French and German in the list of preferred languages, English is the default preferred language for www.eib.org; and French is the default preferred language for www.bei.org.

Content is, by default, displayed in the preferred language. Where this is not possible, the content is displayed in English. An option is provided on each page to change the language of the content, allowing you to view content in all languages available for that content.
