New Governor of the Bank for Denmark

Following the recent changes in the Danish government, Mr Brian MIKKELSEN has been appointed Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs on 28 November 2016. He also becomes EIB Governor for the Kingdom of Denmark, succeeding Mr Troels Lund POULSEN.

Mr MIKKELSEN is a member of the Conservative People’s Party, and has been a member of Parliament since 1994.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr MIKKELSEN served as chairman of the parliamentary group of the Conservative Party from 2012 to 2015 and as vice-chairman between 1999 - 2001, 2011 - 2012 and 2015 - 2016.

Mr MIKKELSEN was Minister for Economic and Business Affairs from February 2010 to October 2011.

Prior to his appointment as Minister for Economic and Business Affairs, Mr MIKKELSEN served as Minister for Culture from November 2001 to September 2008 and Minister of Justice from September 2008 to February 2010.

Born in 1966, Mr MIKKELSEN graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1994.
